We, the residents of Parenti Villa (subsided housing) at 25 Tobey St - Providence, RI 02909, are concerned about the recent raise in the 'lock out' charge becoming entirely way too expensive. This subsidized housing unit is here primarily to help the less fortunate to have an abode as opposed to being homeless.
Many of us are on fixed budgets, which don't include having to pay hundreds of dollars ($) because we forgot our key to get back in our apartment. Some of us have mental and emotional issues; ie. Stress, Depression, Mood disorders and even Schtzophrenic problems. As far as HUD overcharging what used to be a flat rate of $12, we feel we're being punished for our disabilities.
Granted some of us are just plain ole financially indigent. We were under the impression that the government was here to help us. You are hindering with this increased charge, and we are disputing any and all increases since we cannot afford them.
Some have other financial responsibilities such as children, grandchildren, phones, tv, cars, insurance, etc.
Raising something as menial as locking yourself out is preventing us from living a full life because our money(s) are going to HUD, which is supposed to be helping us make a better life for ourselves.
