Gold Creek Foods is a Chicken Processing Plant located inside the City Limits of Dawsonville, behind Robinson Elementary School. Our Children are at a health risk with this plant located just feet behind the playground. This is the second time that Robinson Elementary has had to close the playground to students. Gold Creek Foods gives off horrific smells/odors that can be smelled throughout the surrounding area. Gold Creek Foods operates 24hrs a day, because of the trucks and equipment they use you can hear them throughout the night in the surrounding area as well.
August of 2013 the EPD sited the plant for "blood and high biological content" coming off the semi trucks and the Elementary school had to shut the play ground down to the students. Just this month Gold Creek Foods FAILED TO NOTIFY ANY PUBLIC OFFICIALS (EPD, Dawson County School System, Etowah Water and Sewer, and the City of Dawsonville) of a 55-gallon tank of ferric chloride burst and spill, It was 2 days later that City Workers noticed that Flat Creek had discoloration and dead aquatic life; Flat Creek runs between the plant and Robinson Elementary and also runs beside Public Works. The Spill was traced back to Gold Creek Foods. We haven't even gotten into the Air Quality that the plant causes the surrounding area!

How many more "accidents" and irresponsibility do we need for Gold Creek Foods to keep causing harm to our City and our children? What does it take? We want Gold Creek Foods, LLC to relocate OUT of the City of Dawsonville.
