Stop the 2-hour, daily permit parking and parking restrictions in the Bailey Hills area of Bingley

The parking restrictions will curtail the activities that take place in and around the ancient parish church. All church goers including the elderly and frail will be forced to park some considerable distance away from the church. Church-goers will not be able to stay for refreshments after services. The parking restrictions will effect services of funerals, baptisms and weddings and it will effect Church House bookings. If these parking restrictions come into effect, people will leave the Parish Church in favour of a church that is more accessible.

Dear Ms Hemmingway

Your Reference:  LEG/DEV/SPN72521

Please stop the proposed parking restriction scheme in and around the Bailey Hills area of Bingley.  The scheme will have such a detrimental effect upon church going at the ancient Parish Church of All Saints.

The Parish Church is sympathetic to residents in the vicinity of the Church and the problems involving parking. However, the problem is not caused by church goers but by the huge volume of people attending the Car Boot Sale.  The proposed 2 hour parking restriction will not redress the huge volume of people from the Car Boot Sale and if anything, it will increase the volume. However, it will hugely and detrimentally effect church going.

Already, frail octogenerians have expressed their deepest concern.  All Saints in their church and they fear they may no longer be able to socialise with their friends after services and if they are forced to park at too great a distance from the Church, then they shall be unable to attend.

Please stop the scheme or change the restriction to 3-hours.

Thank you so much.

Yours most sincerely
