Fox, murdered transgender woman deserves journalistic respect

Fox News has once again betrayed its intolerance for the LGBT community.  In reporting the violent murder of  Coko Williams, Fox ran an interview with a neighbor who basically said that Williams deserved what she got--after all, she was transgender.

"They're dealing with another guy and the guy just happens to figure out that's a man, and, you know, of course, something's gonna happen," he said.

Did Fox 2 News really just give every homophobe in the nation permission to kill transgender individuals?

The news broadcast further dismissed Williams' murder by couching it in a network of interviews in which neighbors fretted about prostitution and litter in their community. Heaven forbid that a murder should eclipse concerns about property values!

Tell Fox News that its report on Coko Williams was completely inappropriate and demand an apology!

We the undersigned are outraged at your reportage of Coko Williams' death. It was obvious you did not think Williams worthy of the same respect you would show to any non-LGBT individual. You ran an interview in which a neighbor basically condoned the murder. You put her death in the context of trivial concerns about neighborhood littler. We demand you apologize and follow GLAAD guidelines in future reporting.
