Re: Water Company meeting with the residents of Wissinoming Park/North East Philadelphia area, on October 25, at 5:30 pm
Dear Neighbor,
I want to bring to your attention that The Philadelphia Water Company is planning the construction and placement of Rain Gardens in Wissinoming Park. When the plans for the rain gardens were initially proposed, they were presented as a way to utilize the existing gully space in the park where they can collect water in the garden and redistribute it elsewhere thus keeping it from entering the sewer system. I thought that this was potentially a good idea at the time since our gully area is an eyesore and can use some improvements.
I have received their plans and unfortunately, they intend to use very little of the gully but do plan to use much of our open fields along Charles Street. Please help me to demonstrate to The Philadelphia Water Company how valuable these open fields are for the quality of life for the residents in this area. When the rain gardens are installed, we will no longer have our beautiful views of the park. We will have very limited space for our children to play. These spacious fields are truly the face of our park and make this a great place to live.
The Philadelphia Water Company is coming to our neighborhood on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at 5:30 pm to speak to us about possibly altering these plans. In attendance will be representatives from PGW and their engineer consultants. It is my hope that we can come to a mutual agreement with them as to the placement of these gardens. If you would like to meet with them please join me at the corner of Charles and Comly Streets on October 25, at 5:30 pm.
