Stop a sexual predator from controlling our community radio

Ross Robinson, the station manager of the local Parrsboro Community Radio station has been convicted of sexual assault. Since that time he has used his position at the radio station to re-victimize the woman he assaulted. Obtained from court documents; the radio station aired a (selectively) detailed report on the assault and broadcasted unnecessary details of the victims past. This attitude of “victim-blaming” and “victim-shaming” is unacceptable!

Parrsboro Community Radio has lost the support of we; the people of Parrsboro. Ross Robinson should be forced to resign due to the integrity and professionalism that we expect our chief media outlet to demonstrate. Given the limitations of a convicted sex offender he will no longer be able to perform the duties of the position. We; the people of Parrsboro, do not feel comfortable having Mr. Robinson in a position of media influence, especially considering the abuse of power that has been exhibited.

As long as Mr. Robinson retains his position, the local Parrsboro radio station will have lost the support of the public and the community, which it has been serving. Our community cannot allow this sexual predator to maintain his position of power. We look forward to a vibrant and prosperous radio station, one the town can be proud of, however we do not feel that the voice behind our most predominant media outlet is reflective of the town views, and thus we petition to have Mr. Robinson resign. The following signatures support this view:
We the undersigned,
Urge you to force station manager Ross Robinson to resign from his position at Parrsboro Community Radio. After being convicted of sexual assault Mr. Robinson used his position with the radio station to re-victimize the woman he assaulted. He has exhibited an extreme abuse of power and tarnished the reputation and integrity of the radio station. We; the people of Parrsboro do not feel that he will be able to perform the duties of his position given the limitations imposed on convicted sex offenders. We are also uncomfortable with Mr. Robinson, a perpetrator of sexual violence being the voice behind our most predominant media outlet and feel that he reflects poorly on the town of Parrsboro.

We are appalled with how the legal case was reported on the radio station, airing (selectively) detailed accounts of the attack and unnecessary details of the victims past. This attitude of victim-blaming and victim-shaming is unacceptable, and offensive to everyone.  We stand in solidarity against the behavior of the radio station and against perpetrators of sexual violence.

As long as Mr. Robinson remains in his position we can no longer support Parrsboro Community Radio Station. Please force Mr. Robinson to resign so that we can move forward and create a respectable radio station that the community  can support.
