The use of CPI/physical restraint as part of the IEP in district 25

I'm in district 25, where trained staff are allowed to use CPI (crisis prevention intervention) including physical restraint. This doesn't take into account the individual child's needs. The use of CPI is also determined by the school staff as to when it is necessary. It is my belief that while the use of CPI in certain situations may be helpful, in other cases can do more harm than good. Certain Individuals with sensory sensitivities can't tolerate physical pressure. Therefore, the use of CPI should be a mandatory discussion within the IEP on a case by case basis.
