Operate West Campus Pool as a Year Round Swim Center

The City of Berkeley currently operates two swim centers: King (year round) and West Campus (May-September).
We, the undersigned, are requesting that the City of Berkeley OPERATE the WEST CAMPUS SWIM CENTER YEAR ROUND.

The West Campus Pool is a multi-use facility providing senior water exercise, senior & disabled quiet swim, independent exercise, lap swimming, Berkeley Aquatic Masters and family swim.

Access to the West Campus pool is an important part of a healthy living lifestyle for residents in West and South Berkeley. It is in walking distance to Strawberry Creek Lodge. Many pool-users either walk or ride bicycles to the pool. The West Campus Pool is a heavily used facility. Closing the pool in this area of Berkeley during the fall, winter and spring provides a hardship for residents who live in West and South Berkeley, particularly seniors. In addition, it is not an equitable distribution of city pool services.
