Equal overtime pay for overnight California employees.

California overtime laws states that any employee that works more than eight hours in a given workday shall receive overtime pay after the eighth hour.
This law does not cover employees such as myself who start a shift at 9 o'clock on a given night and ends the shift after 5:30 the next morning. Because after midnight is a new calendar day we are not payed overtime even though we work more than 8 hours. They are allowed to work us until 8:30 am. That's 11 hours at the regular rate of pay.
