North East Citizens demands the return of Major Jeffery Shorter to the North East Police Department

Major Jeffery Shorter's community policing policy was very effective in lowering crime statistics in our community. He and his officers were constantly out in the community engaging with the residents. He made a concerted effort to walk through our community WEEKLY, meeting and helping citizens meet their needs right where they are. He was very engaging with our youth, and started several initiatives for our youth and community as a whole. He would have monthly meetings with the community at the NEPD, as well as meeting with the different neighborhood organizations. As Belair-Edison is a part of the VRI, Major Shorter was very instrumental in making sure that proprietors were held accountable for their violations. The open air drug market on Belair road was slowly dissipating, and now it has returned even more so. Major Jeffery Shorter has made an enormous positive impact in this community. The new commander, Major. Sneed; we have not heard or seen him since he took charge of the NEPD. He does not make himself accessible to the community. He hasn't made himself accessible to the neighborhood associations. To be frank we do not know who he is nor his vision as commander of the NED. We as concerned taxpayers fear that this standoffish approach by Major Sneed, will erode the great accomplishments made within the North Eastern District by Major Shorter.
Community policing is paramount when addressing the systemic issues within this beloved city and our community. Major Jeffery Shorter is the right man for the job and we the undersigned want him back!!!!
