poeple in poverty are entitled to a good lawyer

People in poverty can only afford to be represented by a public defender. 80% of people convicted utilize this right. Because of this the public defenders are overworked so the cases don't get enough consideration. Many poor people go to jail because of this. Public defenders have up to a thousand misdemeanors and other cases to handle a year. This might also be one reason many innocent people go to jail. I think that the government should give more money to the public defense system so that they can hire more public defenders and the current public defenders don't have as many cases, and can give more attention to the to their cases.
