Demand Equal Pay for Canadian Women!

Canadian women continue to be tireless multi-taskers--raising children, bringing home a second income, and doing most of the household chores.

And yet Canadian moms make the worst wages--lower than their husbands and lower than childless women. You might think it's better in the professions--where education and expertise should level the salary schedule. But it's not. Canada's female medical doctors earn 57 percent of what male doctors do, according to a State of the World's Mothers report published by Save the Children. The same report ranked Canada below Estonia in collective caring for its moms.

Tell Canada's Parliament to enact an equal pay for equal work law to redress this terrible inequity!

We the undersigned are extremely concerned that Canadian women, and mothers in particular, make so much less money for the same work that is done by men. A recent report issued by Save the Children shows unequal wages across the workplace, with troubling inequities in the field of medicine in particular. Not only are Canada's moms earning less for no apparent reason, they also go home to more than their share of child rearing responsibilities and household chores. It's time to address this terrible injustice! Enact an equal pay for equal work law.
