Everyone who has gone through the education system in Canada knows one thing is for sure, they don't teach true history when it comes to First Nations people and the residential school system and the awful things that Canada is responsible for! They barely touch on it, if at all in history class, which doesn't make sense because it is one of the most important parts of Canadian history. It affected so many First Nations people and to this day, they're still haunted by the traumas that happened to them, both in the schools, and the families at home, waiting and hoping for their children to return. True Canadian history, as dark as it may be, needs to be taught properly and truthfully in schools. It's just as important as the other dark parts of history, such as the holocaust or slavery! Just because it's horrific, doesn't mean we can avoid talking about it. Tell the government of Canada that they need to update the education in schools in regards to First Nations people and residential schools immediately! Whether Canada likes it or not, this is our Canadian history!
