Opposing H.R. 5, “Student Success Act” (SSA)

As a former educator in the public school system, with over a decade of teaching experience, several advanced degrees, and certifications, I fully support the rights of parents who seek other options in the educational journey for their children. I decided to home school my own children because If found it to be the best option for them, as it is the least restrictive environment for them to learn, grow, and flourish. The State of Georgia is very open to homeschooling and to private schools. I fully support parents being able to have choice in the educational decisions they make for their children. Private schools and homeschooling are two choices that allow parents these choices, and these should not be restricted by HR 5.  In joining other homeschooling and private school parents across the state of Georgia, we hope to neutralize and abolish this Bill.  We do not need more federal intervention, that could possibly lead to the erosion of educational choice. This Bill does not represent the best choice for our district, our state, or our country.
