Improving the Educational System of the USA

The USA’s educational system needs a desperate reform. People who are in school are being teached with principles of the Industrial Age. The school system hasn’t changed since then and it needs one, now. Kids who don’t understand the subject are left behind. Grades are more important than actually understanding the subject. Even then, most subjects learned in school are only ever used for a test and then never used again. Technology hasn’t helped much either. Most teachers aren’t that tech savvy. When in a computer class, the teacher that taught me barely knew what she was talking about. (She was reading off of notes!) Now, I’m not bashing on anyone but, if kids are to learn about technology they need actual teachers who know what they are talking about and know what to do. Now, on the subject of grades. Grades are used to measure the academic performance of the student but, it puts a lot of pressure on them to get the highest grades. And for what? So that it looks good when applying to colleges? When a student gets bad grades people say, “Oh, he’s not paying attention” or something of the sort. But in reality, they may be trying their best. I have seen peers who struggle with the subject try their best but fail. Then they move on to a whole new concept, confusing them even more. Another problem is engagement. Students don’t want to pay attention to something they don’t care about. And teachers don’t want to teach to people who don’t care. So, teachers need to teach in new ways. To start getting students involved they need to make it fun and not stressful for the student. And the student wants to learn about things that will be helpful to them in adulthood and throughout life. Schools, except high school, don’t teach students how to do taxes or how to file bills. To reiterate, schools need a reform. Schools need to start teaching things that will help in life. They need to leave no child behind. They need to start teaching things that will help in your career choice. Most importantly of all, they need to start teaching well again.
