Letter to Trudeau:
In my culture music and food keep people connected and inspired. We are known for our incredibly kind hospitality, our heart warming sound of "tabla" and our beautiful country: Afghanistan.
Canada and Afghanistan have some similarities such as our desire to help people live a safer life, our ability to keep our hearts and homes open to those in need and our breathtaking mountains and nature. Although our winters aren't as painful as here in Canada our sunshine brings people together under similar summer temperatures.
I have always wished to see two cultures connect further over something as unique as finding your twin on the other side of the world. You are lucky as yours has recently been discovered. Abdul Salam Maftoon, an afghan musician and participant in the show "Afghan-star" where he sings and hopes to become the next voice of Afghanistan, dressed up in a suit and tie to show the world that he is your proud look-alike. He has expressed a sincere desire in meeting you in person and has the admiration and support of many people. I strongly believe Canada is exactly the place where these humble dreams come true, especially for those who come from afar.
I am creating a petition with the hope to receive enough signatures to show you that a meeting between yourself and Mr. Maftoon will spark inspiration and celebration in Afghanistan and in Canada.
I hope to show you that it is a well-deserved and deeply valued experience for him and believe Mr. Maftoon will require financial/administrative assistance in his visit to Canada
