Akron Ohio Politicians- YOU have become an embarrassment to your community!
I CHALLENGE these politicians to live on the streets of Akron for ONE WEEK without the following:
1. NO SHELTER- If you're lucky enough you can walk into Haven of Rest during the night hours (or) if they are full you can walk to Second Chance Village and see if a tent is available.
2. NO Credit Cards, or Cash- Folks who are homeless RARELY have cash or cards ..... You can carry a state ID so if the police question you for loitering atleast you'll have ID on you- (which) is more than most have!
3. NO Blankets - you'll have to find them just like those who are living on the street do-
4. NO food, coffee, soft drinks or snacks- You will have to rely upon others to provide them for you, and you WILL learn that there are MANY "Akron Angels" who supply your needs WITHOUT sitting in judgement.
I want ALL of you to SEE, FEEL and be a WITNESS to the work you are trying to DESTROY at Second Chance Village-
I want you to UNDERSTAND what it feels like at 2am to be sleeping on the sidewalk in the snow while cars bustle by you (pretending) you aren't there-
I want you to UNDERSTAND that it's not as easy as you think it is to be gainfully employed when you don't have a place to shower, clothes to wear or even a birth certificate and driver's license.
I want you to UNDERSTAND that -every- day you are on the streets it takes a TOLL on your SOUL and that only by the grace of GOD and the KINDNESS of strangers who give of themselves you are able to make it through another day...
I want you to UNDERSTAND that these PEOPLE who live on these streets are PEOPLE and NOT an "eye sore" .... THEY HURT - THEY FEEL- THEY LOVE- and they are just as good as any of you!
Are ANY of you willing to take this #7DayHomelessChallenge -BEFORE- YOU make a decision that will affect ALL OF THEIR LIVES?
I HIGHLY doubt it but PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG!!!!! BE THE CHANGE that AKRON NEEDS!!!!
