Stop the Atrocities of Destroying Our History

In recent times there has been a common demand to tear down statues of confederate General Robert E. Lee. What's next, Alexander Hamilton? Or George Washington for that matter? Sure. The confederacy's ideas weren't something I'd personally follow but this was a part of our American history. This is our roots. Why destroy them?

If slavery isn't to be forgotten, wouldn't it be a smart idea to remember who was defeated? These are statues. Of men who were (regardless of what they stood for) Americans. Our brothers in arms. So why erase them from our narrative? I see no reason why a statue out of all things would be considered inappropriate?

Focus on the outcome of what the Civil War was. It ENDED slavery. And we defeated the confederacy. Stop erasing our history. I'm genuinely begging for this to stop.
