Bus Driver Mr. O'Neill fired for doing a good deed to help a student
On April 23rd, Mr. O'Neill, our Durham bus driver, did what he could to help retrieve a student's glasses that had been accidentally tossed out of the window of his bus by another student. Knowing that the glasses would surely be run over by the next vehicle coming that way, he secured the bus and turned off the engine before getting out to rescue the glasses from the road.
Mr. O'Neill has always been a very caring bus driver. He has been our bus driver for over a year. Since CD switched to Durham Bus Company, we had gone through several bus drivers. It seemed there was always someone different and they were alway unsure of the stops and the route. This provided a sense of angst for the parents and the kids. It was nice to finally have a steady bus driver again when Mr. O'Neill began.
I could not believe it when I heard that Mr. O'Neill was no longer going to be our bus driver. All because he was trying to do the best for the student who's glasses were going to be gone if he didn't do something quickly. Please bring Mr. O'Neill back as our bus driver!
