Demand a stop to an unethical water rate increase

Due to our city's negligence, we now face an unfair and unethical water rate increase. San Miguel CSD has had numerous money issues in the past including but not limited to ; embezzlement, credit card fraud, over compensated employees and fines and penalties. The proposed increase of 100-200% can and will force many families water service to be shut off, accounts sent to collections and possibly out of their homes. Also, retirees and seniors cannot budget the proposed rate due to being on a fixed income. In order to raise these rates ethically and more affordable it needs to be done over time. 15-25% now and 5% each year there after until the cities budget is reached.
