Fix The Radios Of Firefighters, EMS and Police

Almost three years after 9/11, it is long past time our Police, Firefighters, and Emergency Medical Teams have the equipment to talk to each other.

When the World Trade Center towers were about to collapse, the New York City police received the call to evacuate the buildings, but the fire and rescue personnel did not. Why? Because they have a different radio system than the police and couldn't talk to each other.

The result: while sixty police officers died when the Towers fell, almost 350 brave firefighters and other rescue team members perished – many who might have survived if they had gotten the message in time. This is a nationwide problem that puts us all at risk in the event of another terrorist attack or natural disaster, if not fixed immediately.

Tell Congress to act quickly and provide funding to Fix the Radios Now. We must protect all of our first responders - police officers, firefighters and other emergency personnel - and the public whom they protect.
Call for Leadership in the Fight to Fix the Radios

Dear Member of Congress:

There is a threat to our homeland security that is not being addressed. In every community across our nation, first responders including fire, police, emergency medical services and other rescue personnel don’t have the basic equipment that they need to protect our communities. We ask that you commit to provide the leadership and necessary funding to solve the interoperability problem and Fix the Radios for first response teams.

Every community in America must be secure in the event of another terrorist attack or natural disaster, and we believe that solving this crisis should be the highest priority for our federal officials. We believe it will make our country a better, safer place.

Thank you for making a commitment to this issue.

Sincerely,
