Conflicts in countries like Syria and Afghanistan mean that more and more children and young people are in desperate need of support after surviving or witnessing torture.
At Freedom from Torture we’re campaigning to bring an end to torture for good. And until that day, we help survivors of torture to heal from their wounds, both physical and psychological. Including children like Janan.
Janan is from Afghanistan. When his father died, soldiers asked him to take his father’s place and beat Janan almost to death. Janan’s mother helped him escape using all of their money. Janan is now alone in the UK and traumatised from his experiences. Freedom from Torture is helping him to recover from his PTSD, to learn english and find hope for his future.
