Sign to Support Programs That Foster The Next Generation of Women in STEM

The next generation of STEM professionals will be the innovators who find cures, solve problems, invent products and generate ideas that transform life as we know it. But studies show that women in STEM are still underrepresented.

According to the National Girls Collaborative Project, women make up half of the total U.S. college-educated workforce, but only 29 percent of the science and engineering workforce.

To close gender disparity gaps like the one that exists in the STEM field, Boys and Girls Clubs of America launched the Agenda for America's Youth which focuses on the top issues and solutions impacting young people in our country, including education, workforce, and leadership, as well as equity and inclusion.

Once young women have the mentors and skills they need to create, explore, and experiment on their own terms, they can begin to see the possibility of a STEM career. Clubs across America are providing programs that teach girls how to tinker with block-based codes, design and develop original apps, and simulate computational reasoning.

These programs get girls excited about STEM. In fact, 50 percent of female Club members in the 2016 graduating class expressed an interest in STEM careers, compared to just 16 percent of their peers nationally.

Help us grow this momentum that's bringing more young women and girls into STEM — sign the petition today to show your support for programs that are fostering the next generation of women in STEM.
