| Congress and the big Credit Bureaus are teaming up to pass legislation that would strip away your existing consumer protections rights.
Currently, a major tool to fight financial fraud is making sure consumers have access to a "credit freeze". Once activated by a consumer, a credit freeze prevents financial institutions from issuing any credit - including new credit cards - without the explicit permission of the consumer. Congress, working with Credit Bureau lobbyists, is considering a bill that will prevent tens of millions of consumers from having convenient access to a credit freeze option. If the Credit Bureaus succeed in convincing Congress to pass their plan, consumers will have no ability to stop credit fraud before it ever happens. |
