Stop Locking Kids Up With Adult Criminals

In Maryland, the majority of kids charged as adults are never convicted in adult court or serve time in an adult prison, but they spend a lot of time locked up with adults anyway, before trial. Kids as young as 14 who are charged as adults will spend almost 5 months or more locked up in adult jail with adult offenders before the courts consider whether to send them to the juvenile justice system.

It's Wrong. It's Dangerous. It's Unacceptable.

All Marylanders should be held accountable for their actions, but locking kids up for months in adult jails before they're even tried is counter-productive and cruel.
