President Trump Just Gutted the Agency That Guards Your Vote. Take Action Today!

On July 9, President Trump fired every single commissioner of the US Election Assistance Commission (EAC). By email: "Terminated, Effective immediately." No warning.

The EAC is the small, bipartisan federal agency created after the chaotic 2000 election to help your state and county run secure elections. It certifies voting machines. It maintains the federal mail voter registration form. It supports the local election officials — your neighbors — who make sure your vote is counted. President Trump left the agency with zero commissioners. It cannot act. Four months before the November midterms.

This is not a personnel decision. It is an attack on your vote. In the last year alone, the Trump administration has:

  • Tried to add a proof-of-citizenship requirement to the federal voter registration form (federal courts blocked it).
  • Threatened state and county election officials with criminal prosecution.
  • Hollowed out CISA, the federal agency that protects election cybersecurity.
  • Pushed the SAVE Act to impose a national voter ID mandate.
  • Floated "nationalizing" elections.

Now, with the help of a new Supreme Court ruling, he has fired the bipartisan watchdogs standing between him and the integrity of the voting systems Americans rely on. The message is clear:
he wants to choose his voters — not the other way around.

For more than 100 years, the League of Women Voters has defended the freedom to vote. We are not standing down. Right now, we are:

  • Training election protection volunteers in every state.
  • Running voter education programs in swing districts.
  • Supporting the local election officials — your election heroes — with the resources they need.
  • Mobilizing millions of voters to show up in November.

Sign below to tell President Trump he cannot steal the midterms.

An Open Letter to President Trump:

Mr. President:

You do not get to choose your voters.

American voters choose their leaders — at the ballot box, on their own terms, and with their votes counted accurately.

Over 100 million voters will show up this November, and the League of Women Voters will be there to make sure every single vote is counted.
