All Kids Deserve a Safe, Loving Home - Call on the NFL to Take a Stand Against Child Abuse

Child abuse has been in the news a lot recently, especially in light of charges brought against professional football player Adrian Peterson. While Peterson claimed he was just disciplining his four-year-old son when he hit him multiple times with a branch pulled from a nearby tree, the "punishment" left his son covered in horrific cuts and bruises down his legs and back, as well as defensive cuts to the palms of his hands.

When questioned later, the boy said he was afraid his father—an over 200-pound man—was going to punch him too.

While Peterson's story is making headlines, too many abused kids fly under the radar every day, without anyone to help or protect them.

For abused kids, the physical and emotional toll is significant. And when violence at home gets too bad, they are often left with no good options: either live with the beatings or risk ending up living on the streets without a family to depend on. That's exactly what happens to many boys and girls who have been abused: as teenagers, they choose homelessness over abuse.

Whether their parents are famous athletes or not, we cannot continue to let these kids and teens suffer in silence.
