Set Them Free Petition

Set Them Free Petition is aimed at urging the President and Congress to use every effort to obtain the immediate release of live American POWs and MIAs last known alive in captivity in Southeast Asia who were abandoned by their government  and never returned home after Operation Homecoming in 1973. Many are still alive! Some Still Survive. They call out to their fellow Americans "Take Me Home."  You can help bring them home by sending a message to The President and Congress as well as to the Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States, Nguyen Tam Chien.

How You Can Help Set Them Free

A “Set Them Free
Petition Drive, a joint effort launched under the banner of Let Freedom Ring, Inc. with the support of  POW families, begins today. The petition calls upon the President and Congress to "obtain the immediate release of American Servicemen known to have been alive in captivity in Vietnam and Laos during and after the Vietnam War and to make the category “Last Known Alive” top priority in any and all dealings with the government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam."  The U.S. government has to date been concentrating its efforts with the Vietnamese in obtaining a full and final accounting of POWs and MIAs by focusing on recovering and classifying “remains” rather than on returning live Americans”.
The petition concludes; "We the Undersigned know there are American servicemen who served in the Vietnam War still alive in
Southeast Asia.  The many American POW/MIA organizations and groups share one thing in common, the ultimate goal of obtaining the return of Live American servicemen from the Vietnam War who were last known alive in captivity but whom never returned home.  A full and final accounting of all servicemen who did not return home after Operation Homecoming in 1973 is also the purpose that motivates those patriots who have not forgotten their fellow Americans.  We share this common cause that binds us and that will unbind the POWs and MIAs still calling out to their countrymen to “Take Me Home”.  There is “Confirmation” that some still survive.”
We ask each group and concerned individuals to unite behind this Petition effort.  Let us show our elected officials and the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam that we are united as one in our determination to uncover the truth and to obtain the release of all Americans abandoned in
Southeast Asia without recrimination to the people of Vietnam.  Not one American serviceman must remain unaccounted for. Only in this way will the Vietnam War truly be over and can lasting friendship between our peoples and nations really flourish.
