Help More Children Like Akokote! Protect Funding for Life-Saving Health Programs

When Akokote was just 1, she became dangerously sick with pneumonia. In her remote village in Kenya, there wasn't anyone to help her. Luckily, her mom was able to get her to a hospital more than an hour away. Her life was saved.

Tragically, last year for 5.4 million children under age 5, that wasn't the case. And unfortunately, President Trump's budget proposed cutting funding for programs that saved Akokote's life. Urge Congress to reject these cuts so more children can survive and thrive!
Subject: Support robust funding for international maternal and child health programs

Dear [Representative],

I am deeply concerned about the 5.4 million children under age 5 who died of preventable causes last year. That's why I urge you to support robust funding for international child and maternal health programs in Fiscal Year 2019 appropriations.

[Your comment will be added here]

Due in large measure to U.S. leadership, the world has seen the number of children under age 5 dying from preventable causes, like pneumonia and diarrhea, drop by more than half. That's great news, but with nearly 15,000 children dying every day from preventable causes, it's clear we have more work to do. What is even more tragic is that half of these deaths occur among newborns.

Continued investments in maternal and child health means fewer lives lost, stronger local economies and a safer world. That's an agenda everyone should be able to support!

Please help preserve America's legacy as a truly exceptional nation and save children's lives by supporting robust funding for maternal and child health programs overseas.

I look forward to your response.
