Stop the Violence Against Bahrainis

The people of Bahrain have lived under the monarchic rule of their royal family for more than 200 years. Now, Bahrainis have taken to the streets to demand equal political and legal rights.

But government security forces have cracked down on protestors who've gathered peacefully in Pearl Square in the capitol of Manama. In the middle of the night, the police entered the square and opened fire on sleeping demonstrators.

Then, at the funerals for the protesters who'd been killed, security forces again opened fire on mourners from the ground and from helicopters.

These violent crackdowns are a violation of human rights and must end. The king must address the concerns of his people peacefully.

Sign this petition to show your support for the democratic aspirations of the Bahraini people and tell King Hamad ibn Isa Al-Khalifa to end the violent suppression of his people.
We, the undersigned, stand in support with the people of Bahrain and their peaceful demonstrations for equal political and legal rights.

The royal family has held absolute power for more than 200 years. It is time for them to relinquish their stranglehold on the country and allow true democratic reforms and free speech in Bahrain.

Moreover, we condemn the violent crackdown on protesters that has already resulted in hundreds of casualties. Middle of the night attacks on peaceful protesters are an unacceptable violation of human rights.

We urge King Hamad ibn Isa Al-Khalifa to stop the violence and work to enact democratic reform in Bahrain.
