Help Make Shark Fin Possession Illegal in California

The California Senate is now deliberating Assembly Bill 376. This bill will make it illegal to possess shark fins in California. Because most of the fins harvested in the Americas must pass though California, the bill will have a huge international effect. If the bill passes, it promises to save millions of sharks every year.

Shark finning is a horrific process. Fins and tails are cut from living sharks, who are thrown back into the ocean to die a slow death.

Shark finning is inhumane, and has also put us on the fast track to collapsing fisheries and ocean deterioration around the world.

We need your help. If you are a California resident, please sign this petition. We need everyone, even non-California residents, to post it on Facebook, Twitter and e-mail your friends. Help stop the needless annual slaughter of millions of sharks, and help protect the health of our oceans by adding your name to this petition today!
Dear Senator,

I am writing to express my support for AB 376 to make possession of shark fins illegal in California.

Shark finning is a horrific process. Fins and tails are cut from living sharks, who are thrown back into the ocean to die a slow death. Not only is it cruel and inhumane, but the rapid destruction of these populations is putting our oceans and its delicate food chain at risk of further deterioration.

Please do the right thing and support AB 376 to ensure a future for sharks, our oceans and our children.
