Support Funding For the Feminist International Assistance Policy

Poverty affects millions of people around the world. More people are facing hostility due to rise of religious fundamentalism, war, climate change, and terrorism. But women and girls feel the effects tenfold.

Poverty and discrimination disproportionately affect women and girls. Often women cannot own land and girls are not supported to attend school, leaving them with few economic opportunities.

The Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIAP) was recently launched by the Canadian government. For the first time in history, our government is setting ambitious goals to advance global development and humanitarian efforts, specifically focused around advancing gender equality.

This is a step in the right direction, but we must continue to voice our support for this lifesaving work. Creating the plan is the first step, but we need funding and implementation for the FIAP to be successful. If we keep focusing on empowering women and girls, we can reduce poverty and increase economic and leadership opportunities around the world.

In honor of the International Day to Eradicate Poverty, sign your name to voice your support for the FIAP, and help women and girls thrive.
