I'm a fan of the YouTube Channel Bright Side, but I actually thought of unsubscribing because of one video. That video is "7 Most Banned and Dangerous Dogs Around the World". The list demonises specific breeds and at least one type, such as pit bulls, Rottweilers, Canarian Mastiffs and others, despite the fact that there are many lovely, friendly and sweet pit bulls, Rottweilers and other misunderstood breeds in this world.
Pit bulls are one of the most common dogs in America and, unfortunately, are also one of the most abused, misunderstood and unwanted types in the world. They are used in dog fighting, in which dogs are trained and cruelly forced to fight. They are also mistreated, neglected and abandoned outside of dog fighting. They are one of the most common dogs in US shelters, and one of the most common dog types killed in shelters. This is because their not being wanted, adopted or claimed, in big part due to their reputation. Rottweilers, dobermans, Staffies, Akitas, other bull breeds and other breeds also have bad reputations, not helped by videos such as this.
Pit bulls can be wonderful dogs and have worked as therapy dogs, search-and-rescue dogs and on TV with children, among other roles. Did you know that Petey, the dog from "The Little Rascals", was (at least at a time/s) portrayed by a pit bull/pit bulls? Stubby, the dog who inspired the US Canine Corps, was also a pit bull? Rottweilers, dobermans, pit bulls and others have also saved the lives of people and other animals outside of work...
Bright Side, please, please stop spreading and encouraging breedism and speciesism and remove all content that demonises animals or promotes cruelty.
WatchMojo, my Number One favourite YouTube Channel, did a video about misunderstood animals and they included pit bulls. Please follow their lead and do more content that portrays pit bulls, other misunderstood breeds and types and other misunderstood animals in positive lights. Please, please remove this video and apologise. Please, please also promote animal adoption, helping people and animals and promote kindness towards all beings.
