Stop Condoleezza Rice

Dr. Condoleezza Rice is pro-abortion and therefore, according to the norms set forth by the US bishops, should not be honored at Boston College with a Doctor of Laws degree.
An Open Letter to Father Leahy and the Boston College Administration,

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will be speaking at this year's commencement ceremony and receiving an honorary degree from Boston College.   Many students are upset that she, a supporter of the Iraq War, would be honored in this manner at a Catholic university.  However, the Catechism of the Catholic Church is abundantly clear that it is not the role of the Church to decide which wars or just but the role of the state.  Therefore, the idea that she should not be allowed this honor due to the war is erroneous.

However, in 2004 in “Catholics and the Political Life” the US Bishops said, “The Catholic community and Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles.  They should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions.”  Dr. Condoleezza Rice is pro-abortion and therefore, according to the norms set forth by the US bishops, should not be honored at Boston College with a Doctor of Laws degree.

The below signed, as faithful Catholics across the nation or students and alumni of Boston College, ask you to stop Dr. Rice from speaking at Boston College.
