Protect New Mexico's Water. Stand Up Against the Pinon Pipeline!

You've heard of the Dakota Access Pipeline, threatening drinking water for millions of Americans. But did you know that New Mexico is facing a similar threat right here at home?

The proposed Pinon Pipeline represents an unprecedented expansion of the oil and gas industry in our state. This pipeline would stretch 130 miles across western New Mexico, putting already impacted communities, water, air and cultural sites at grave risk.

Families and communities in northwestern New Mexico are already living in an area that is home to a giant "hotspot" of methane pollution. We cannot let this pipeline add to the dangers they face.

Just like the Standing Rock Sioux, New Mexico’s Indigenous, Latino and low-income communities are shouldering the majority of the negative impacts from oil and gas drilling, infrastructure and transportation. And worse, their concerns for their health and the health of their families are often ignored by decision-makers, if heard at all.

Many community members have already raised their voice in opposition to the pipeline – will you join us and stand up for New Mexico's water and communities?

Add your name and tell the Bureau of Land Management and our decision-makers that you oppose the Pinon Pipeline and urge them to listen to local communities and involve them in crafting a new vision for our state – one that doesn't choose industry over people.
Update #12 years ago
On Dec 16, the BLM announced that the company pushing for the Pinion Pipeline has withdrawn their application - meaning the pipeline project is off the table! This is an important moment for communities fighting pipelines. But this is just one project. We need to continue to push BLM to make commonsense decisions about further investing in oil and gas infrastructure at a time when we need to be planning for a just transition away to clean, renewable energy.

Thank you for raising your voice!
