STOP the use of leg traps and conibear traps used to kill beavers and other animals within the city

I am trying to raise awareness about animal cruelty after I saw a beaver caught in a leg trap at Fish Creek Provincial Park in Calgary on July 22, 2014.

The trap was hidden in a grassy ditch with no safety devices or barricades put in place to protect the public or other animals, and it was no more than 20 feet from the main walking/bike path. The beaver was chewing off his leg, was in extreme distress, crying and flapping his tail, desperate to free himself.

I contacted Global News to report the incident and I gave an interview to let the people of Calgary know what was happening to an innocent animal, our national emblem. We need to stop the inhumane killing of all animals and the inhumane use of  all leg and conibear traps to save our precious wildlife.

If needed, we need to use safer methods of relocating animals to environments away from human habitation.
