People have lost everything. Show your support for flood victims like Kamal

"I have never seen floods like this, I'm not sure we will survive" – Kamal*, Pibor Resident

Floods are a regular occurrence across the landlocked Sudan in eastern central Africa. However, 2019's rainy season was unusually heavy, bringing flash floods that have inundated whole towns.

People have lost everything. Their homes. Their belongings. Their livelihoods.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams on the ground are seeing an increase in water-borne and insect-borne diseases like acute watery diarrhoea, respiratory tract infections and malaria. These diseases are already three of the biggest killers in South Sudan for children under five, so prompt medical care is key.

MSF is working around the clock to overcome logistical obstacles and provide support to people in need of life-saving assistance. For instance, in Lankien, Médecins Sans Frontières have hired local people to distribute about 2,000 aid packages to affected households in the region. This means help gets to those who need it, and provides a source of income for families whose livelihoods have been destroyed. But, this crisis is ongoing and there's still much work to be done.

Sign to show your support for people like Kamal in these dire circumstances.
