Protect wild animals on your holidays

The end of the year is upon us and many Australians will be making travel plans to head overseas. Did you know that your choices while on holiday have the power to reduce demand for cruel attractions and save animal lives?

Right now, across the world, wild animals are being captured, taken from their natural habitats or bred in captivity, and suffering a lifetime of cruelty and abuse – all because people love animals and love to see them when on holiday.

Whether it is riding elephants, taking selfies with tigers, or watching dolphin shows, these activities can cause lifelong suffering. In the name of entertainment, animals are beaten into submission, deprived of food and water or trapped in concrete cages.

Many people visiting wildlife tourism attractions are completely unaware of the suffering that occurs behind the scenes. And because demand for animals in the entertainment industry is so high, these animals continue to be used and abused for profit in ever increasing numbers. Travel companies around the world profit from some of the cruellest types of wildlife tourist attractions. But you can help end this exploitation.

Take the pledge to be an Animal Friendly Traveller, and together, we can show the travel industry just how many people won't stand for animal cruelty. Your can help reduce the demand for animal entertainment.

I pledge to be an Animal Friendly Traveller. I will avoid cruel animal attractions, including:

    • Riding elephants
    • Taking tiger selfies
    • Walking with lions
    • Holding sea turtles
    • Watching dolphin shows

By pledging to protect these animals, I am helping reduce the demand for animals in entertainment.
