Someone tried to drown three Border Collie puppies, and they still haven’t been caught!

A bag full of puppies sounds like a child's birthday gift dreams come true, or some sort of fairytale plot point. But for a town in the north of Ireland, the phrase describes a recent nightmare. A plastic bag was found hanging from the barbed wire atop a fence, suspended over the rushing water of a river. Inside it were three newborn puppies -- so young and helpless that their eyes were not even open yet. They were suffering from hypothermia, hypoglycaemia, and without their mother, they were starving.

Sign the petition to demand that the Garda Síochána Donegal, the authorities in the area, immediately find whoever abandoned these puppies to die!

Luckily, the sweet pups are still alive. But the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA), tasked with the puppies' care, says they will require exhaustive, round-the-clock care until they are out of the (figurative) woods.

In the literal woods, their rescue was a delicate and dangerous mission. The babies were suspended in a thin, plastic shopping bag hooked onto barbed wire -- the slightest wrong move, and the bag could tear, hurling the puppies into the rushing water below. Their rescuers believe that whoever abandoned the tiny Border Collie babies actually intended to kill them by throwing the bag into the river. Mercifully, barbed wire meant to keep people and things out of the river snagged the bag, and stopped the pups from drowning in a watery grave.

No matter the reason a person isn't able to care for pets, abandonment or murder is never the answer. The ISPCA, the very organization now nursing the pups back to life, and many other animal welfare groups take in unwanted, stray, or sick animals constantly. While ability, money, or life events may get in the way, kind folks who have devoted their lives to caring for animals are there to help. But whoever threw these puppies away like garbage chose the most sinister alternative. This person most likely still has these pups' mother. They must be found before they can harm her, or any other animal.

Please sign the petition showing your support in the search for this cruel abuser. Let's urge the Garda Síochána Donegal, the Irish local police, to not rest until the perpetrator is found and stopped!
