BC has a BIG fracking problem!

The majority of British Columbians oppose fracking. Yet our provincial government is actively pursuing this dangerous industry, leaving a legacy of destruction in our own backyard.

How could this happen — here — when other places have issued an outright ban on fracking? Are our leaders even listening?

At a time when we are experiencing the disastrous effects of climate change, our government is putting our beautiful province in peril.

It's time to end fracking for natural gas because:

• Fracking triggers thousands of earthquakes in northern BC
• Wastewater contains radioactive materials, potentially posing a danger to the surrounding environment
• Wastewater is heavily contaminated and may leak into drinking water sources, posing a serious health risk
• Physicians are concerned about dangerous health effects

Here's the bottom line, fracking wastewater is toxic and fracked gas is dangerous for British Columbia. Even more concerning is the fact that our provincial government is failing to address how it is impacting British Columbians.

Fracking also releases large amounts of methane, a dangerous greenhouse gas. With Canada warming at twice the rate as the rest of the world, the time to act is NOW.

In just two years, the BC NDP government has doubled fossil fuel subsidies to $1 billion, furthering tax cuts the BC Liberals started in 2016.

This is short-sighted. Why are we allowing the government to prop up a dying industry that pollutes our waters and contributes to climate change? It's never been more clear that our future depends on renewable energy.

The BC Greens have opposed fracking every step of the way. To put a full moratorium on fracking in BC, we need to add more voices to our campaign.

If you love our beautiful province, cherish our rainforests and treasure our breathtaking coastlines, will you join us and condemn fracking in BC?

Say NO to fracking by adding your name to this pledge. You'll be joining thousands of others who understand the promise of tomorrow rests on our actions today.
