Help Raise Awareness For Homelessness in Kelowna!

While no one wants to be homeless, homelessness can affect people from all walks of life. Robert lives in Kelowna and never in a million years would have believed that he'd be homeless.

He worked in the construction industry until his company lost a major contract, and he was laid off. Robert struggled to find work and didn't know how to cope with surmounting stresses in his life.

Not long after he lost his job, his beloved mother passed away. She'd had a sudden stroke. His whole family was devastated, and Robert simply didn't know how to process his grief. Within five months, Robert couldn't hold down any new job, and he lost his apartment. The unthinkable had happened; he was homeless.

Life on the street was demoralising and dehumanising. Most of the time, people didn't see him. The strangers who did notice him often eyed him with obvious apprehension. Life was hard, but Robert survived on the street for six months before connecting with Kelowna's Gospel Mission.

Thankfully, Robert found help at Kelowna's Gospel Mission. There, he had somewhere to sleep, food to eat, and devoted caseworkers who helped connect him to transformative programs and services.

"Before going to Kelowna's Gospel Mission, I was hopeless. I'd given up…I didn't think life would ever get better for me," says Robert. "For a while, I just went so I could have a hot meal, but before long, I'd formed friendships with the staff. They've helped me in so many ways."

Kelowna's Gospel Mission is dedicated to caring for people who are in need of assistance and have nowhere else to go. But it's only with help from caring supporters that Kelowna's Gospel Mission can turn homelessness into wholeness.
