The Wild Horse Foundation's web site boasts the organization as being "A New Texas Tradition," "Nevada Horses get Great Care" and "Gentle Is the Touch." According to recent visitors to the facility operated by Ray Field, his New Texas Tradition is one of abuse and neglect
One credible visitor to the facility who wished to remain anonymous due to Field's volatility wrote, "It was a horrible place for these rescues. Ray said they had been there since March and I asked him that at least 4-5 times .I think he thought I was dingy because I just couldn't let it sink in that the horses looked so bad for being there for so long."
This is not the first time that Field has been involved in controversial situations
Field is not allowed to attend the national Wild Horse Workshops. He and his partner, Susan Calhoun, have been responsible for passing numerous bad checks .There are confirmed reports that Field's activities have been or are being criminally investigated by the BLM
Officials of the Western States Wild Horse & Burro Expo reported that they had to pursue Field for five months and had to threaten criminal prosecution on bad checks and stolen property charges before they collected for the colt and resolves some other "issues."
Field has also been involved with trademark infringements, attempting to use "Least Resistance Training Concepts" and "LRTC" trademarks as well as Lifesavers' "Wild Horse Boot Camp" in his deceptive business practices and legal filings
