A veterinary clinic in Savannah, Missouri recently dealt with a case of abuse and neglect against a dog so terrible, they are offering their own monetary reward to whoever has information that may find the person(s) responsible.
Staff were literally moved to tears when they saw the emaciated, rotting 10-year-old dog brought to their facility. They had no choice but to mercifully euthanize the poor thing.

One staff member at Angels Vet Express & M'Shoogy's where this dog was brought said that "she could smell the decaying dog before she saw" it. Not only was the dog entirely emaciated, just skin and bones; it had an infection on its face so terrible, it's "head was almost 'eaten off with infection.'" Vets thought the most likely cause of the infection was a gunshot, since the poor dog had a hole traveling all the way through its face and mouth.
The placement of this horrific injury meant that the dog wasn't eating or drinking. The dog was so skinny, dehydrated, and infected that it seemed clear to rescuers that it had been subjected to weeks of abuse and neglect. Whoever is responsible could have brought the dog into the vet long before things got this bad, and they could've saved it -- instead, it was brought in to die.
