Thank Brazil's Zoo for Helping Penguins!

In the past month, over four hundred penguins have washed up on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro, lost on the way to their annual migration site of the Argentine Patagonia. Although penguins get lost every year in Brazil, there has been an astounding number this year.

It's currently a mystery why there are so many penguins washing up on Brazil's shores this year, but scientists have posed several environmental theories, such as overfishing, pollution and global warming.

Niterói Zoo, the largest in the state of Rio de Janeiro, has taken in many of the surviving penguins. Soon, the Oceanographic Museum in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul will be taking in the survivors to rehabilitate them and prepare them to go back to the wild.

Send a thank you to the Niterói Zoo and president Giselda Candiotto of the Zoonit Foundation, the zoo's rescue relief foundation, for making sure our disoriented friends get well!

Dear Giselda Candiotto, Staff and Volunteers of the Niterói Zoo:

Thank you for organizing rescue relief for the many penguins that have washed up on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro. As concerned citizens, we applaud your efforts. We wish the penguins a speedy recovery.
