November 29, 2019. We could use your help on another petition

We need your help in Oregon, please! In October, 2019, veterinarian Dr. Daniel Koller was charged with aggravated animal abuse for directly causing the death of Bleu, a 7 month old dachshund. Dr. Koller is still practicing today. We want his license suspended. Please sign and share petition.

UPDATED: One of 2 men sentenced. The other won't be pursued.

We will keep pursuing stronger laws. Please see my latest effort here https://www.thepetitionsite.com/923/682/451/jack-the-family-cats-theft-caught-on-video-teen-boys-wont-talk.-authorities-deemed-cat-value-50.00/

His name was Aubrey (aka Toby).Hewas just 5 months old. Not yet housebroken, and still a chewer, two annoyed roommates took him out to the woods and shot him in the abdomen. They left him in the bushes to die. He was found, but after heroic efforts to save him, he did not make it.

When police tracked the suspected killers down, one suspect asked "All this for a dog?"

The men have been charged. However, in most animal cruelty cases, laws and sentencing guidelines lack the teeth needed to take a bite out of this kind of crime.

UPDATE:  Forrest Smith's felony was reduced to misdemeanors. His one year sentence ended up with 10 days in jail. He cannot own animals for 2 years. :(  We need stronger laws.

We need stricter animal abuse laws that teach the importance of compassion for all living things.

Thanks go out to Kitsap Humane Society who did everything possible to save this puppy.

Please share this petition to convince Washington state lawmakers and enforcers that, yes, we need to do all this and more for a dog.

Update #44 years ago
Even though this case moved fairly quickly in the grand scheme of things, it did take a year. Kitsap County Superior Court sentence Smith to a year of incarceration with all but 10 days suspended, reducing felony to misdemeanors. He's restricted from caring for animals for 2 years.

Too often, animals do not even rise to victim status when murdered.
We need to do this in every case of animal abuse.
