Stop the President's Budget from Damaging Your National Parks

The president's new budget takes direct aim at our beloved national parks and other public lands. It's time to step up to protect these special places that we all love.

While the administration lays out ideas for addressing the National Park Service's growing repair backlog, they do so by dismantling bedrock, common-sense conservation laws and potentially increasing oil and gas development on our public lands and in our waters. The budget also contains dramatic cuts to cultural programs, land acquisition and grant programs that leverage philanthropic dollars.

All of us who care about America's national parks know we can invest in park infrastructure without sacrificing everything that makes them so special.

Caring for our parks means not only fixing their roads and buildings, but also protecting air, water, wildlife and lands, and ensuring a positive visitor experience. The time to act is now!

Please join NPCA in asking your members of Congress to reject the president's FY19 budget proposal and instead invest in real solutions to fund, preserve and protect our national parks. Thank you!

Dear [Decision maker],

As someone who cares about America's national parks, I urge you to reject the administration's recent budget proposal and instead invest in our parks with the bipartisan solutions they deserve.

The budget asks for a 7 percent cut to the National Park Service. These important places draw more than 300 million visitors every year. They need more resources, not less. Further cutting funds for services and other essential park functions will only make it harder to protect and manage our parks, putting our nation's natural, cultural and historic heritage at risk.

We can and must do better. I urge you to look for real, lasting solutions that address the national park repair backlog and operations funding while keeping the conservation laws that protect these special places. Thank you for considering my views.
