Prevent Additional Harm to White Marsh and the Bird River

Prevent Additional Harm to White Marsh and the Bird River and Reconsider the Planned Irresponsible Environmental Scope of the Proposed Nottingham Ridge Outlet Mall!

Last October, a Baltimore County Administrative Law Judge approved plans by Paragon Outlet Partners, LLC to build an outlet mall on Nottingham Ridge, an 83-acre Planned Unit Development (PUD) right next to White Marsh Run, the principal tributary to Bird River.

Of all of the Chesapeake Bay’s 100,000 miles of tributaries, Bird River is arguably the most severely impacted by sediment. Poorly managed runoff from the Nottingham Ridge Outlet Mall would exacerbate the water quality problems of Bird River. The health of Bird River is critical to the 61,000 people who live in the watershed, including White Marsh residents.

While the Administrative Law Judge did require adherence to the 2000 stormwater regulations, this development would still add a tremendous amount of pollutants to the Gunpowder and Chesapeake Bays -- impacting our entire community.

We deserve better! Protect Bird River and sign this petition today calling on Councilman David Marks, Councilwoman Cathy Bevins, and the entire Baltimore County Council to reconsider the scope of this outlet mall before it's too late.

The Bird River Restoration Campaign’s goal is to restore not just Bird River but all 90 miles of tributaries to Child Friendly Water status which would ensure waterways pose no threat to health, are free of public safety threats, teem with fish and other aquatic life, and can be easily accessed via trails, paddle, etc.
