Animal Aid and other animal rights and welfare campaigners have long fought for CCTV to be required in ALL UK slaughterhouses to help stop welfare breaches and protect these poor animals, who ARE sentient beings, from being subjected to even more abuse when they are cruelly taken and transported to slaughterhouses wherein they are already violently killed unnecessarily for their meat. Sheep were shown to be crushed under the weight of an already-violently killed, once-sentient animal. Other animals suffered terribly when they got their fur/hair caught in machinery when on conveyer belts (their hair/fur was probably torn out, causing similar pain to that which you or I would feel if someone tore out a clump of our hair), probably with little to no regard by the slaughterhouse workers. Animals have been seen to be punched and kicked and otherwise abused in slaughterhouses.
Routinely, cattle are forcibly packed into trucks and lorries and taken from their better lives in the fields with their herds and transported, sometimes for miles, to slaughterhouses wherein they are forced towards their deaths, bolt gunned in the head, hung upside down and have their throats cut. They then bleed to death. Chickens are taken from cruel conditions in cages on factory farms by force, to be forcibly loaded into trucks and lorries and driven to slaughterhouses wherein they are taken to their final destination of death, stunned using an electrified water bath, hung upside down and slashed across the throat with a knife. They, too, bleed to death. Pigs are taken, often from very cruel factory farms, forcibly loaded onto trucks and lorries and driven, sometimes for days, to the slaughterhouses, wherein they are stunned using electric tongs, hoisted up, hung upside and slashed across the throat. Like most animals slaughtered for meat, they bleed to death. Some animals are also still conscious when they slashed across the throat and bleed to death, due to either stunning methods not working properly or the animals not even being stunned anyway, due to apathy and want for speed in production, or due to their being slaughtered religiously, for halal or kosher meat (please note that I have nothing against Muslims, Jews or the nonviolent aspects of their religion. I'm sure many Jews and Muslims would call themselves animal lovers, are vegetarians/vegans and completely disagree with the cruelty, due to the fact that they believe that Allah, Muhammad and Yeshua would not agree with unnecessary violence towards their creatures, and due to their own morals and ethics. I'm not anti-Semitic or Islamophobic, just against unnecessary violence to sentient beings).
Requiring that CCTV is used in ALL UK slaughterhouses would enable police, the Government, animal welfare and animal rights organisations and groups and health and safety inspectors to monitor abattoir practices better and find out about animal welfare breaches and health and safety breaches, both for slaughterhouse workers and the general public, making the world a better and safer place for animals and humans.
Requiring that CCTV be used in all UK abattoirs and allowing animal rights activists to air pro-vegan, anti-meat ads and show the footage on adult TV without policy and legal restrictions and fear of retaliation from the meat, dairy and egg industries would also bring more awareness and educate more people into going vegan.
Please start siding with the real victims, the animals, not the farmers, slaughterhouse workers and meat, dairy, egg and fish industries!!!!!
Please require CCTV in ALL UK abattoirs and allow animal rights activists to air pro-vegan adverts on adult TV!!!!!
