Continuing the end of this year with the marks combined from assignments, projects and tests instead of the finals in the end of the year

First of all, we would like you to know that we support the idea of online courses and we know that this is what the future would look like; however, regarding the pandemic we’re going through and the new system we’re facing, it’s something very new to us which will result to both technical and human errors. Both students and teachers didn’t have sufficient time to learn and adapt to this new program.

So, we kindly suggest adapting something that will benefit us as students instead of effecting our marks which will be on our record forever. We are asking you to give us marks based on our participation, assignments and projects that we’ve been doing throughout this semester. This is a pandemic that is affecting the whole world in many different ways, where many universities have already applied this for the interest of students, for example NYUAD.

We know that this program you’re suggesting might be successful in the future, but for now, in a two months period, there is bound to have some mistakes or improvements that will not benefit us.

We support all improvements you have for the future, but for now, continuing the end of this year with the marks combined from assignments, projects and tests instead of the finals in the end of the year is the only thing that will benefit us as students in Sorbonne University.

No need to mention that this situation is very sudden, complicated and chaotic for everyone from students to teachers to even staff members. Some students already left the country and won’t be able to come back due to the restrictions worldwide and have very weak internet connections back in their countries. Exams online are already very stressful since we’ve never gone through something like this before and we didn’t have the time to adapt. Therefore, the thought of us undergoing final exams now with this new detecting program is more than frightening and stressful to us than ever.

If the marks are approved for the second semester in the way we suggest, we will be completely satisfied. We are very familiar with this situation that’s happening but considering the continuation of this end of semester in this way will be in the interest of us students during this pandemic.
