The lifeless body of a sweet, 15-year-old cat named Poppy was recently
found in a bin in Burnley, England.
Her death was totally preventable -- in fact, Poppy wouldn't have died if a cruel woman hadn't eagerly sicced her dogs on her. How did authorities manage to find out who was responsible for the heinous crime?
The perpetrator posted a video of the incident on Snapchat, laughing and cheering her dogs on.Behavior like this indicates the woman charged with the crime is unwell, and needs mental health support immediately.
Sign the petition to demand Burnley authorities ensure this woman gets the mental health support she needs!Multiple professionals who reviewed the video revealed the most heartbreaking detail:
the woman's dogs did not seem to want to attack Poppy. Rather, they did so after repeated, eager commands from their owner.
She can be heard saying "...get that little cat. Go on get it."In the video, poor Poppy appears completely frozen with fear.
This woman had every chance to leave this poor cat alone -- instead, she decided to take her life while likely also traumatizing her own dogs. The video posted is harrowing, and affirms that the woman responsible needs access to mental health care. Her behavior is dangerous for animals and for the woman herself, who pled guilty to animal welfare offenses at court.
The perpetrator is currently incarcerated, but when she gets out, we want to ensure she doesn't harm a single other animal.
The best way to do this is to get her access to comprehensive treatment – the most effective form of animal abuse prevention. Sign the petition now if you agree!
